Alive and well as of 4/21/07.

Begin your search at Squam Boats Livery, Inc. Rt. 3 at the bridge in Holderness, NH.

Look directly across the street for the green "Channel Walk" sign.

"The Channel Walk has been created by Holderness 2000, a non-profit community group, in conjunctiuon with the owners of Curry Place. The public is invited to use the walkway and enjoy some waterside relaxation. Your help in maintaining its cleanliness and natural beauty is appreciated."

Follow the walkway along the banks of the channel.
The channel connects Big Squam and Little Squam Lakes. Looking across the channel you will see the public boat launch area.
Keep strolling and looking.
You will pass a number of memorial banches.
Find the bench: Given in memory of--Walter and Agnes Cahill

Sit a while on this bench and enjoy the passing boat traffic.
Casually look over your shoulder for a moss covered log, it lies a few paces behind this bench.
Walter awaits under the rocks at its stump.
Leave your mark for Walter and take his mark with you.

PLEASE BE DISCREET. This is a very busy spot.
Make sure to re-hide Letterbox Walter under the rocks so he won't swim away.

The rest of the walk will take you to visit the gazebo and the Historical Society. If you are lucky enough to find the Historical Society open be sure to take a look at "Holderness Past."

*** This is a family, kid and pet friendly, very short walk. There are picnic tables behind the Historical Society building so do take along a picnic.

I hope you enjoy Holderness and Squam Lakes as much as I do!
