Daniel Boone. a.k.a ( D.B. )
"Fall 1796. When General Lee of Mason gave Col. Daniel Boone a Surveyors deputation in Oct. 1796, he had a large tract to survey near the mouth of Blaine's creek on the Big Sandy: Col. Boone, his son Nathan, and on or two persons as chain carriers started, together with a couple of gentelmen named Barlow & Duvall who went for the excursion. From Limestone, went in a canoe up the Ohio and the Big Sandy. The Surveying was a ways back from the river.
The surveying lasted several days, game was scarce & the Party while in the woods ran short of provisions and for the last day or two had nothing. When completing the survey & returning to the canoe, where Col. Boone had provisions and amoung other articles of apples and ' old Monongahela'...and young Barlow and Duvall ate plentifully of Green Apples with a generous admixture of the 'old monongahela, got quite sick. Nothing further happened." Nathan Boone remebering a surveying trip with his father. Lyman Draper Interview,(1851).
