Difficulty: Clue Easy, Terrain Medium Hard

Pirates fight
Yes, we do
Day and night
It's what we do

Visit a famous pirate fight
A battle of the ages
A box was planted at the site
By some elder pirate sages

Imagine this
Captain Sunset, ruler of many
With a pirate sword of his
Defeated all who opposed him with glee

He had heard of a glorious treasure
And sought out for it fast
His trip was meant for pleasure
But all that remains is the memory of his past

One part of him remains
And that be his sword
Retrieve it to relieve his pains
And remember the fight against hoards

This be your mission
If you accept it
He gave me permission
This is how you find it

On the Petrified Log Trail
In the Nevada Valley of Fire
To find the sword, do not wail
And listen up, young squire

A sign allows leashed dogs
And also has trails three
The middle one leads to logs
It's the one for you and me

The trail is lined by rocks
At a fork, choose down and to the right
100 paces in shoes and socks
At an 80° bearing to do all right

From the middle of two fences
Go to the right going uphill
100 more paces to another fence
a white long inside, see you will

Walk a bit more
At a 180° bearing
The 7 simple paces for
The box you'll soon be having

Do you see a rectangular slab?
If ye do, ye be there!
Stop listening to me blab
Under a pile of rocks on the south is where

So now, may ye
Never forget the battle
Of the Swashbuckler that set many free
(P.S. Beware of a snake's rattle)

PLEASE NOTE: This is the desert. The temperatures will be unbearable if you attempt this hike in the summertime. Please bring water and wear sunscreen, and wear a hat and sungalsses to protect yourself from the sun. Also make sure to not reach directly in or under any surfaces without making sure there is nobody living there like a snake or a lizard or a spider first.

PERSONAL NOTE: I made this box in January. I carried it around for over 4 months to find a good spot for it this May, so as you can imagine I was pretty happy to find a spot for it. I hope you and your letterboxing partners enjoy finding this box!!!
