Last known find: 7/4/2007 We pulled Spring Leaf for maintenance and left something else temporarily in its place.

This is our first letterbox placement. Please let us know how we did and if you found the box. FamilyfromMass@aol.com

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Spring Leaf is located in Francis William Bird Park in East Walpole. Parking is free, entry is free. Dogs are welcome. The park is VERY family friendly, and is easliy handled by a stroller. You can get more information about Bird Park at the following link:

EASY DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
From Route 1 in Walpole take Route 27 North (Big Y World Class Market is at this light). Go to the thrid light at Washington Street. Go right. Go PAST the park on your right. Just after a few houses and business on your right is Rhodes Ave. on your right, turn there. Park in the church lot on your right. Reminder: There is no parking in the lot during church services. You can also park on the park side of Washington St (mostly on the sidewalk) at the main gate you just past. There is another lot on Polley Lane off of Washington (its a right before you get to the park when you are coming from Route 27).

While you are at Bird Park also look for "Happy Birthday, Baby!" left by Amy & Jay and "Crows at Bird Park" & "Weeping Willow" both left by Dragonfly, "Cheeseburger Challenge" left by Music Man, and "Loose Goose" left by Peppermint Patti.

CLUE:
Start by parking in the church lot on Rhodes Ave. (Be aware that there is no public parking in the lot during church services.) Go into the park through the gate on the south side of the lot.

Travel along the dirt path over the bridge. When you get to the bench that looks to the sky (I'm told this bench was replaced with one that sits straight), go right. Follow the brick path, with the pond on your right. Look out for geese droppings.

When you get to the "T" path intersection go south. Head to the flagpole. Face south east with the flagpole in front of you. Go directly right into an area surrounded by trees. At this point you should be heading south.

In the southern corner of that clearing you will see a tree with twisted roots. Take the left path. Follow it down to Shakespeare's "house".

Sit on the ledge at the "house" and face the the trees. From here you should head toward the western path.

Just as the path begins you'll come to a small tree. On the other side of the path as that tree is a bigger tree. Stand on the south west side of that tree with your back to it. You should be facing south west.

Look down. Buried under that pile of fall leaves at your feet is letterbox Spring Leaf. Please, please, please, bury the box well under the leaves. It's a BIG box (perfect place for HH's to hide) so it will take many leaves.
