Difficutly: Easy
Distance: About 50 yards
Status of Microbox: Alive and Well on 7/7/2009
The "Crockett Family" microbox has been placed in the smallest state park in Texas, Acton State Historical Site. The park preserves the grave of Davy Crockett's wife, and 2 of his children, in this cemetary. Mrs Crockett gained land in Texas due to Davy serving in the Texas Army, and came to Texas to live. There is a large monument erected at her grave in her honor.
Directions:
From Acton, take Hwy 4 south to the cemetary on your right just before the highways split. Drive in and look left for the large moneument. Park somewhere near here.
To the Microbox:
Walk to the graves, and reflect. Then, go to the southeast corner of the monument. Walk at 150 degrees for 85 paces, to the grave of Sonora Adkins. From here, look at 150 degrees for the biggest tree in front of the rock wall. Walk 25 paces to that tree. Now go 4 paces at 170 degrees to the other tree. Standing between these 2 trees, look for the large rock on top of the wall.. The microbox is under this bigger rock. Be sure to replace rocks as you found them.
