Status of Letterbox: Alive and Well on 4/15/2007
The "Soaking Up Texas" letterbox is located in Meridian State Park, near Meridian, Texas. This park offers camping, swimming, fishing, hiking, and much more.
Directions:
From Meridian, Go west on Hwy 22 for about 4 miles to Park entrance on your right. Pull in and pay fee at entrance station. Go right on main road, past the boat launch area, and continue on the oneway road until you reach the parking area on the right for "Bee Ledge Scenic Overlook". Park.
To the Letterbox:
Walk to the overlook and take a look. Then return to the trail. At the 1st step up, start count 34 paces as you walk back up the trail. At 34, turn left and look for a faint trail. Take this trail, which goes left of a cedar tree, for 22 paces to another cedar tree on the right with 2 large rocks at its base. The box is behind the tree, under bark and with a flat stone on top.
