This box was reported missing on 7/26/05...I'll update if and when it is replaced.

Parker’s very modest beginning came in 1860, when a one-room shack was moved from Pine Grove to Cherry Creek to serve as a stage stop called the Twenty Mile House…approximately 20 miles from the origination point of the Butterfield Stage. The humble little shack grew into a 10-room inn and eventually became a major stopping point for the railroad in 1882, under the ownership of James S. Parker. It was a stage stop, blacksmith shop, restaurant and hotel that served travelers and teamsters on the Smoky Hill Trail South and the Cherokee Trail from 1864 until after the arrival of the railroad.

The one room shack now sits in the middle of Parker, across the street from the beautiful and dramatic statue which celebrates the stage stop.

From Parker Road (Colorado 83), turn west onto Main Street. Shortly after, turn right onto Stage Run, then left into the parking lot of the Bank.
On the northeast corner of the cabin you will see a square slab of concrete. Sit on the concrete, facing the statue across the road. In the rocks to your right you will see a cinder block. Behind the cinder block your treasure awaits, hidden beneath the rocks, between the cinder block and the foundation of the house.

This is a VERY public and visible spot! You must use your very best skills of discreetness! You’ll have to be ‘tying your shoe’, ‘talking on your cell phone’ or even better, ‘chatting with a companion’ in order to remove and replace this box unnoticed! The best place to do your stamping is in your car, or across the street on the benches surrounding the statue. A fun challenge.

A handcarved stamp and handmade journal.

Please let us know if you’ve found it and how it is doing!
