NOVEMBER 2004 - confirmed MIA report. Too close to trail?
APRIL 2005 - new stamp in a nearby location.

PART OF THE RIVER of STONES series.

In order to find this first box in what will be the River of Stones series, you must make your way to a trailhead. Seek it out in the area called Donelson, just east of Nashville in the county called Davidson. Travel on 70, watching for the coals that does not burn. Your starting point can be found in the NE corner.

ORIGINAL DIRECTIONS:
To find the Stone Soup letterbox, walk steadily until you come to the third bridge. Just beyond the bridge, on your left, is a large tree with a double trunk and a deep hollow at its base. Your goal is nestled in that alcove, tucked under some pieces of mossy bark. Be discrete when retrieving this box, because it's on a busy trail.

DIRECTIONS TO STONE SOUP 2:
Alas, Stone Soup must have been too near the trail, and prying eyes found it out. Stone Soup 2 is close at hand. Look across the path. See that clump of trees that looks vaguely like a "W"? There is a deep hollow within its base. The box is covered by bark. Be quick! It's a busy trail!

Alive and well, as of 4-20-05

Miscellaneous Details:
*There is no stamp pad in this box, so bring your own.
*Kid and stroller friendly location.
*Bicycles permitted on trail.
*Pets on leashes allowed on trail.
