This letterbox is at a certain "I.P." in a certain large park area in the city. To get there take hwy 1 north to Lake Street and go right. If coming from the north, you can’t go left on lake, so you’ll have to go past one more block and go right, and circle the block so that you can turn right onto Lake. Turn left onto Arguello Blvd from Lake. Follow this street straight into the park. Just about 0.2 miles up ahead on the right is the small lot for I.P.. From here (if it’s a clear day) you can see a beautiful view of Alcatraz (so bring your camera! I forgot mine, and am kicking myself...). There are no parking fees. Dogs are allowed on leash. This hike is very short and easy, but not wheelchair accessible. You have to know about President Reagan to find his letterbox. Follow the directions that are given next to the correct answers.

Start down the steps that are to the right of the lookout area. At the bottom there is a fork in the trail, go:
1. Where was Ronald Reagan born?
A. Mt. Vernon, IL: Left
B. Tampico, IL: Right
C. Springfield, IL: Turn around and go halfway back up the steps.

Follow the path until you see a sign on your left. At that sign go:
2. How long was Reagan in office before he was shot?
A. 3 months: up the path on your right
B. A year and a half: straight on the path, don’t turn at all
C. 69 days: left, down the path.

Up a very short distance ahead, on your right you will see:
3. Finish this quote by Reagan from February 10, 1982: "...I know it's hard when you're up to your armpits in alligators to remember you came here to…”
A. “find the letterbox.”: a very large rock
B. “drain the swamp.”: a tree with a “6” on it
C. “kill them.”: a cluster of fallen trees

Continue down the gravelly (is that a word?) path as it curves right. At the fork:
4. What was Reagan’s second film?
A. Sergeant Murphy: go right down the small path
B. Brother Rat: follow the path as it veers left
C. Love Is on the Air: follow the invisible path to the West

After only 25 steps down the path from the fork, you come to another fork, go:
5. What was the name of the 1st Motion Picture Unit that Reagan was assigned to in Culver City?
A. Fort Funston: right up the hill towards where you came from
B. Fort Bragg: straight up the hill
C. Fort Roach: slightly left through the trees.

The path will turn into sand. Continue straight. You will have the opportunity to go right up a sandy hill at the fork with the stump in the middle. From that stump, continue straight down the path (do not go right at the fork up the sandy hill!) 30 steps. Stop and look south (this should be your right). There will be a large tree with a tangle of exposed roots. Go up the hill to that tree and on the East side of the roots (which should be your left) hidden in a nook in the tangle is the letterbox.
