This box is located in Tyler State Park, one of the many excellent state parks in Texas.

When you get to the park, pay your fee and pick up a map from the ranger station. The interpretive trail loops up near the ranger station, but we entered it from Area 10. Find Area 10 on the map, go there, and park near the restroom. You will see a sign there that says "Nature Trail" and points in two directions. Take the trail head to the left. From the trailhead, you will see a small bridge. Cross the bridge and proceed up the trail. The trail leads uphill, and is supported periodically by cross ties. To your right you will see a creek. As you approach the top of the hill, the trail will bear to the right and the creek wanders off to the right as well. You will soon come to several sets of crossties close together. Go up the first set, which has three ties, and the second set, which has 5 ties. At the top of the set of five, look to your right. You will see a "boulder field" - a group of large rocks that leads off toward the creek bed. Follow the boulder trail until you see a large hole on the right. A few steps further, near the large hole, is a dead cedar tree with scary looking branches and a smaller hole at its feet. CAREFULLY, search the hole at the base of the tree for the box.

This is a busy trail, so come equipped with some ready cover - we had a quick compass lesson at one point, and searched and dug for bugs at another.
