May be gone. The last few people looking said the tree has completely dissintigrated and the box could not be found.

To get to the Big Sycamore Shelter from I-75: Take I-74 West to Exit 3. Turn right at the top of the ramp and right again at the stop sign (onto West Rd). Take the park entrance to your right and the shelter area is the first one you come to on the right. There is a three dollar yearly or a one dollar daily fee for this park. Dogs need to stay on leash.

On 3-3-03, when I was placing other boxes, I saw a beautiful Egret (at least I think it was an egret, I'm not very good at identifing birds) near the rocky shore of the Whitewater river here. It inspired me to find a hiding place near this spot for 'the Waterbird', which I placed on 3-4-03

This box is practically a walk up and can be accessed by children, just be sure they don't venture too close to the edge of the river bank. You might want to hide behind the fence as you stamp in so you don't draw suspicion of park rangers or others driving by.

From the Western most post on the shelter, take a compass reading of 230* and head to that corner of the field. Behind the fence is an old tree that the woodpeckers have been using as a restaurant (getting bugs out of it). The Waterbird has made a nest in the base of this old tree.

Let me know if you find it (and if the tree falls).
