Boone Meadow Birthday Letterbox
Planted 6/2/2004 but not published
For Gwen’s Birthday 7/20/2004

From Kernville head north from Primo’s big chicken after setting your car’s odometer. There will be a potty stop on your left at mile 18.7 in the Brush Creek parking area. Turn right at mile 19.2 onto the Sherman Pass road. If you have crossed the Johnsondale bridge turn around and go back to the turnoff. At mile 39.5 turn right on 22S20 toward Boone Meadow. At mile 41.4 the road splits, but you should stay right. At mile 42.7 you will be in a parking area that is a fire safe camping area also. After parking head down hill south toward a creek and trail. Follow this trail downhill in a southeast direction. At a U turn in this trail, the motorcycle trail will continue to your left and the “No Motorcycles” trail will continue toward the meadow in a SE direction. The sign will indicate that Boone Meadow is 1 mile, but it is closer to 1/4 mile. At the Meadow find the Snow Pole. From the Snow Pole find the 3 ft. high stump in a north direction 65 steps away. From the stump walk to a low spot in the barbwire fence at 50 degrees. Cross the fence and walk back along the path until the Snow Pole and the stump line up with the spot you are now standing at. The letterbox is uphill 9 steps at 25 degrees at the base of the north side of a tree. The letterbox is covered by movable rocks and some tree duff. When rehiding this letterbox please make sure to rehide it properly.
To obtain the proper image you might bring a blue inkpad, an orange or brownish inkpad, and either black or dark brown inkpad. There are three separate stamps that will make one complete image.
Enjoy this pretty meadow that escaped the McNally fire. Fishing for the small native trout is best at the far end of the meadow.

When researching our clues please be aware that when previous searchers list “ATTEMPTED” on the clue sheets it may reflect more on their abilities as finders than indicate whether the box is viable or not. We do monitor our clues and boxes pretty well and appreciate the notes written to us by those that find or attempt our letterboxes.
