This box requires very little walking, (50 yards) and is suitable for anyone with reasonably steady footing.
Ames monument is between Laramie and Cheyenne about 1 mile from Interstate 80.
To get there take the Vedauwoo Exit (329).
After taking the Vedauwoo Exit off of I-80, drive south-east until you come to a sign with an arrow that says Ames Monument.
Here you should turn leftish onto a gravel/dirt road.
Take this road approximately one mile to get to the monument which looks like a large pyramid in the middle of nowhere.
After you park, find the Ames Monument Memorial sign that tells about the Ames Brothers, the rail road and the town of Sherman.
Stand looking away from the monument with your back touching the sign.
Use a compass to find the direction of 60 degrees North East.
Take 105 paces in this direction.
To your left you should see three large boulder clusters a bit apart from one another.
Each boulder cluster has a waist high shrub beside it.
The letter box is between and under the shrub and boulder cluster that is farthest from the monument and has the largest shrub.
Loose Rocks have been placed under the shrub and over the box.
By now you should have easily found it. Congratulations!
