DIRECTIONS: From I-64 in Lewisburg, West Virginia take US 219 North 27 miles to Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park. At this site in 1863 there was a civil war battle. The park has many trails and beautiful views. Also in the park is a Civil War artifact museum and a tower to view the town of Hillsboro and surrounding countryside. If you are entering the park from the direction of Lewisburg you will pass one entrance and enter the next drive. There are park signs at both drives. There are a lot of deer/auto accidents in this part of the country. Watch carefully.

DIFFICULTY: easy

CLUES: After you enter the park you will come to a crossroads and there is a sign that points right to the Tower. Take that right and follow the road to the tower. Here you will see a beautiful view of the small town of Hillsboro. Park at the tower and climb to the top to see the view. Take your camera!! When you are through enjoying the view, exit the tower and follow the rocks on the right around the parking lot. Count to the 20th rock and turn right. Go to the wooden "toilets" sign and behind the sign on the back side of large pine tree, under a big rock is the Droop Letterbox. Watch for poison ivy and snakes.
