DIRECTIONS: From I-64 in Lewisburg take US 219 North to Beartown State Park. The park is on the right side and is approximately 23 miles from Lewisburg. Watch for deer, there are usually many along the road and they will jump in front of your car.

DIFFICULTY: fairly easy. boardwalk to box area and the some easy climbing.

CLUES: At the beginning of the trail is an old hand pump water fountain. This is fun to use but the water is not very good. Head on down the trail to where it turns to boardwalk. There is much to see and explore in this park. After the trail turns to boardwalk there will be a Beartown State Park sign on the left side of the boardwalk. Just after that sign the boardwalk veers left and right. Take the right and continue down 5 SETS of steps to where the boardwalk takes a hard left. At the corner here go off the boardwalk to the tree directly in front of the corner. From the back of this tree 3 paces forward under a rock ledge and covered with moss is the Beartown Letterbox. Watch for snakes and poison ivy. After you find the box continue on around the boardwalk and it will bring you back to the parking lot.
