This series is located in Multnomah County, Portland, Oregon. It was
placed by The Paisley Orca in August 2002 for the Portland Letterboxing
Event.

DIRECTIONS: From NW 23rd and Lovejoy, head West up Lovejoy. This will
turn into Cornell Road. After the second tunnel there is parking for
Upper Macleay Park on the right-hand side. There is a stone sign that
says "Macleay Park". This and the next driveway are the parking area
for Upper Macleay Park.

BEAVER'S LUNCH LETTERBOX:
From the parking lot go down the trail to the restrooms. Head on down
the Wildwood Trail. Zig zag down the switchbacks and cross the bridge.
At the end of the bridge there are several trees surrounded by boulders.
Squeeze yourself between the holey tree and the leaning tree and look
down at the leaning tree's cavernous trunk. The letterbox is NOT there.
Between the two boulders on the right front of this tree at foot level,
Bever's Lunch can be found. Please replace the rocks and sticks that
conceal this letterbox. This is a very high traffic area on the trail.

RING-NECKED DUCK LETTERBOX:
Continue on the trail until you come to a stone structure on the
left-hand side. At the trail junction go low: Lower Macleay Trail.
Head on down the path. Do the limbo under the low log. Continue on.
Examine a post for the big Douglas Fir tree on the right. From the big
rock in front of this post go 14 steps and look to your left. Scamper
up and behind this tree for the Ring-necked Duck. Please replaced box
and concealing rocks.

WHITE-FRONTED BEE EATER:
------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------
THIS LETTERBOX HAS BEEN REPORTED AS NO LONGER IN ITS ORIGINAL SPOT. IT IS EITHER MISSING OR NOW HIDDEN SOMEWHERE IN THE BIG GNARLY SCULPTURE-LIKE TREE.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Keep going along until you come to a big gnarly scuplture-like tree
trunk on your left. On the other side of the trail is a log bridge.
Turn around. Go back 7 steps. Follow the trail on your left up to the
little gnarly snag. Beneath the log the White-Fronted Bee Eater will
greet you. Please conceal with bark.

OSPREY PERCH:
Head on down the trail. You may cross some minor boardwalk/bridges.
From the end of the RAILED bridge go 50 steps and look right. Between
and below log and upright tree is Osprey Perch.
