Forget about Bobby Jones and his bicycle, forget about the canned tomatoes. Bobby doesn't have anything to do with this box. This box is all about Frankie. Everyone knows about Frankie; that he was born in Wisconsin in 1867 and planned some of the most famous buildings in the United States and elsewhere.

But not everyone knows that he designed one for San Luis Obispo. If you go to the trouble to find out where it is, you will see that in recent years the city has erected a bridge nearby to compliment the more distinctive lines in the building. A plaque commemorates the bridge, and behind the plaque is a tree stump. Behind the tree stump is a rock and under the rock is Frankie's letterbox.

11/2014 update - the box can possibly be found IN the stump, not behind it as there are many leaves and limbs making the navigation back there difficult. Please be very discreet and rehide well. This is an old plant and we need to keep it safe!
