NOTE: This box will not be planted until July 31, 2004 in time for the Golden Gate Gathering. We're posting this clue ahead of time to whet your appetite for the event!

She was beautiful and the love of my life. I wanted her to be happy and I was the one who intended to provide that happiness. Over the months I'd asked her what her favorite EVERYTHING was: actor (Johnny Depp), city (San Francisco), flower (hydrangea) , etc. When the time came to pop the question, I wanted to make it memorable. I asked her to meet me in Golden Gate park for a romantic walk. I'd be waiting for her, she wouldn't be able to miss me, I told her. I asked her to drive up JFK Drive and travel east until she was about in the middle of the park. As she was approaching the bridge where it crosses over JFK, (Crossover Drive) she'd see the sign I'd made and hung there. A little poem I thought she'd like:

Look to your left and you will see,
The flower you love in great quantity,
Pink and white and purple too,
Abundant as my love for the wonder that is you.

She'd park on the side of the street and walk to the little road just to the south that parallels JFK where my cart full of flowers would be, with me, holding the surprise I'd gotten for her.

I waited and waited. Her cell phone was turned off. It got dark. I gave up and never went back. Left the cart there on the east side of the big log on the south side of that little road. The summer of '04, the summer I left my cart in San Francisco.
