Ties That Bind

Placed by Wednesday Bowler and Celtic Cat

Restored July, 2008, with the original stamp and logbook, after the replacement stamp and logbook disappeared from the box last year.

The Bucks County area was previously populated by various tribes of Native Americans. Today there are several places which are named after some of these tribes, one of which were the Lenape Indians. Within Bucks County there is a waterway the Lenape tribe named to mean “Deer-Bone-Creek”. The Lenape word to mean Deer-Bone-Creek is used within the name of the location, which was dedicated to the people of Bucks County on August fourteenth, forty-four years prior the planting of this letterbox. Today this same area offers visitors a variety of activities. Dogs are welcome within the area which the letterbox lays.

Upon your arrival walk to the flag pole, and stand so as you can read the plaque. Site 345* and take the path leading down the hill. On your journey down you will pass by some friendly prehistoric animals, and possibly even some gnomes. You will soon come to a set of stairs. Avoid these stairs, and turn your back on the open air building structure to which you are nearest. When you reach a dead end site 130*, and go approximatly 42 paces and search behind a tree of three.

Upon your find you will discover traces to settlers who can be tied to the area as early as 1745. Also of interest is that there are ties to the 124th King of Ireland.

Please take the time to re-hide well after stamping in. Thank you!
