This stamp was originally placed on 7/9/2004 by TiceStamp. ADK Oinkers found the box easily following the clues below and adopted the box. Geocachers had logged in also and left trinkets in the box. Please DO NOT relist this anywhere as a Geocache!

Historic Interest: Northampton Beach Campground is located on the Great Sacandaga Lake, a reservoir 29 miles long and 6 miles at its widest point. At full pool, the Great Sacandaga Lake has 26,000 acres of surface. The lake was created by impoundment during the 1920's. Under the jurisdiction of the Board of the Hudson River-Black River Regulating District the area became flooded when the dam gates were closed in 1930. The reservoir regulates the flow of the Hudson and Sacandaga Rivers, providing a conservation pool of water, minimizing floods, providing flow at drought stages, and affording recreational boating and fishing opportunities. Development included provisions for swimming and picnicking only. The campsite area was added in 1961. Flush toilets and showers were constructed in the late 1960's.

On to the LETTERBOX This is by far one of the best campground/Day use areas in the State. You will be charged to enter so take your time and enjoy the area, activities and the sandy beach. The mooring is a traditional letterbox with log and stamp. You will need to bring a stamp pad and a pen. As you enter the campground you will need to find a site number (neo) once found you will see a trail off to the right near a creek. From the road count your pace because at twenty you will come to a T. Make a left this will bring you to a clearing the trail will continue up to the right. The trail will branch off you should head 228ยบ and follow that path for a good time (about 1/4 mile). After walking through a fairly straight and slightly uphill section lined with large pines you will pass an uprooted tree to your left. You must be very observant you are looking for a large boulder that is covered in moss (about 5 feet tall and 5 feet wide). This boulder will be on the right side of the trail. Walk right up to that boulder and find (neO hyrTit vieF) on your compass and take ten paces look on the other side and you will find what you are seeking (I learned how to make this stamp using a blacklight)......Hope you had a great time and enjoy your time here on the Great Sacandaga Lake.
