Level of difficulty: easy, but might be cold and of course not accessible in the winter.clues can be a challenge.

This area is near the south fork of the Yuba River where the Donner party made their way to Sacramento and the gold fields. Mary Yuba Sutter was born near here along the river bank.

Directions: Head east on I-80 towards Reno, Nevada from Sacramento, California. After going beyond the rainbow take the off ramp that Elvis would take. At the stop sign turn left. Clues along the way:

1. If you take the correct turn you will be in another county, not another state.
2. Go past the "University".
3. Spruce and Willow will lead you forward.
4. Look south and up to the T, double T, triple T. They will guide you to the place you seek.
5.From between the double T (August 5,'72 tells you that you are in the correct spot)walk 42 steps toward 120 degrees, then 22 steps toward 75 degrees and a wooden pair ( or walk 40 steps toward 40 degrees and disregard the last 10 steps as the wooden pair is mostly gone). Head north 10 steps to the pile that guards your prize. The letterbox is hidden underneath the top large trilogy rock. You do not have to dig up the rock to find the box.
