Our Letterbox is placed on the same trail as The Harry Truman Summerhouse Letterbox.

Note: The George Owens Nature Park is closed Mondays. Pets are allowed but must be on a leash.

Directions to George Owens Park:

- Take I-70 to MO-291 N

- Go North for almost 3 miles until you reach 23rd street/MO 78. Turn right.

- Go East on 23rd street about 1 mile until you reach Speck Road.

- Turn left on Speck Road and go about a half mile.

- Turn right into park at 1601 S Speck. Park at building.

Clues to follow:
1. Find the horseshoe pit in back of the Nature Center. Across the street is the entrance to the Butterfly Trail.

2. Enter the trail and go to the bottom of the hill where you will see a clearing complete with a fire pit used by campers.

3. Just beyond this area is a footbridge. Cross the bridge as you head up the "right wing" of the Butterfly Trail.

4. Farther up the hill, you will choose between two paths. Go right to stay on the "right wing".

5. After you walk a short distance on this path, locate the labeled Bitternut Hickory tree on the right.

6. Now look for a decaying log across the path from the Bitternut Hickory. Examine it carefully and you should be able to find our letterbox.
