Dungeon rock is located in the LYNN Woods Reservation. An often-told tale persists of a pirate ship anchoring along the Saugus River. Pirates were reported to have rowed ashore and set up camp in Pirate's Glen. Legend has it that they hid their treasure within a natural cave on a rocky hill in Lynn Woods.
In year 1658 an earthquake shook Lynn severly. The pirate Thomas Veal was within his treasure cave at the time. The rock above him splintered and fell in upon him, entombing him forever with his ill-gotten hoard. From that time onward the spot had been called Dungeon Rock.

From Lynnfield St.(Rt.129) To Greatwoods Rd. Eastern Entrance
From the entrance take the road on the left by the bulletin board
Follow until you see a fork in the road. Just before the fork there will be a small path to the left next to a fallen tree.
Follow that path. The path is very rocky at some points, so strollers and bikes are not recommended.
When you come to a rock in the path with another fork in the road stay to the left (straight). This path is about 1/2 mile long. Along the way you will see blue markings on the trees.
At the end of the path, take a right up the hill. You will come to a small clearing. There will be a sign for dungeon rock and you will see the path to dungeon rock. (go explore when you are done) There will be a little path to the left(not the parellel path). Take 72 paces to a small pine tree, then take 8 paces to the right to a fallen tree. The treasure you seek is under the tree under some leaves & rocks. Please rehide when you are done.
From the path you came on take a right and it will bring you to Stone tower. Follow the signs.

Alternate Directions;
From the entrance take the road to the left of the bulletin board. At the fork go left. This path will take you to stone tower first. After Stone tower continue on the path past the tower. At the end take a left. Follow until you come to Dungeon rock.
