The stamp was wonderfully carved by RTRW. Thanks!

This is an easy box in the Norwichtown Cemetary. Dogs are permitted here. Please be very discrete and respectful here.

From the rt 2-rt 32-I-395 connector, head west on Town St(toward Stop & Shop, away from Backus Hospital). Go straight through 2 traffic lights and bear right around the green. At the stop sign, go far right to go around the green. When you get to the light, go far left down Cemetary Lane. It is a dead-end street with parking for a few cars at the end.

Pick up a pamplet about the cemetary in the box at the entrance. Head into the cemetary and take a look around. It is a wonderful old cemetary. Every flag you see represents a soldier who fought in the Revolutionary War. Find your way to Samuel Huntington's tomb over the footbridge.

Samuel Huntington was born in Scotland, Ct in 1731. The son of a farmer, he studied on his own, and was admitted to the bar at age 22. At age 28, he moved to Norwich to increace his law practice. After serving at various positions in Connecticut, he was appointed to the Continental Congress in 1776. He signed the Declaration of Independence and continued to serve in Congress until 1784. From 1779-1781, he served as the President of the Continental Congress. In 1784 he was elected Lt. Governor of CT and returned home. In 1786, he was elected Governor, an office he filled until his death in 1796.

To find another patriot, stand facing the tomb. Standing to the right of the plaque and flags, take a compass heading of 20 degrees to a very large tree on top of the hill. From the north side of that tree, take a compass heading of 345 degrees to a large maple just on the other side of the stone wall. On the NW side of the wall, right were the tree is, is the Patriot letterbox in a natural ledge in the wall behind 3 stone doors. Please move these stones only, and do not disturb any other part of the wall!! Stamp in and rehide. Then explore the rest of the cemetary.
