*******************************************

This box is located at WG Jones State Forest on FM 1488, 1.2 miles west of I-45.

Pay attention as you approach (from either direction on FM 1488) and watch for brown sign indicating horse trailer parking area. The road does not have a street sign.

There is a gate, with hours posted, but it says it iss only open Mon-Fri but I have been on the road on weekends. It shouldn’t matter if gate is closed, as the box is not far from gate, and gate does not prevent foot traffic at all, just vehicles.

Using the gate a reference point, proceed down the road about 40 steps. On your left there is a clearing (and if you drove in, park here!). Walk EAST across the clearing towards (not to it, just towards it, bear to the left of it) the large pine, about 35 steps. As you progress, you will come upon a fallen tree with no bark in your path. Find the base of this tree in the woods and you will find the letterbox.

We have all seen or played Pin the Tail on the Donkey, right? Well, similar to that, this pony is without a tail. I have included a brown marker in the box to ink the stamp with. After stamping your logbook, use the marker to add a tail to your pony! See the sample if confused.
