This box is located between Laramie and Cheyenne at the Blair Picnic Grounds a couple miles north of I-25. It is about a 1/4 mile hike over rocky areas to the letter box.

If you are coming from Cheyenne, take the Vedauwoo Exit (329). Go under the interstate and turn right onto the paved "frontage" road. There should be a sign that says Blair road pointing to the right (west). Take this road a mile or two until you come to Blair Road which will come up unexpectantly with very little notice. (As you drive look to the right at the interstate for the cemented opening that indicates a road under the interstate exists). After you get here follow the same directions as people coming from Laramie.

If you are coming from Laramie, take the Happy Jack exit. Turn right (southish) and follow this paved road for 4 miles. At this point you should see to your left, a cemented opening under the interstate that is the way to Blair Road. Turn left, go under the interstate and onto the dirt road that should have a sign with Mileage to the various public parking areas.

From the point where the road turns to dirt, it is almost exactly 2 miles to the Blair Picnic Grounds. When you get there they will be to your right and the sign isn't seen until you almost go by because of some dense bushes. Turn right into the picnic area and park in the first parking area which also hosts the FEE box ($5). You may be able to park out on the road, walk in and avoid the fee if you wish.

After you park. You should see an overgrown grassy area with 4 or 5 picnic tables. Enter this area and head west towards the large boulders that come down the hill on the far side. You will know you are in the right place if you look over to the right and see an outhouse built of dk brown logs.

When you get to the far side of the picnic area, you should come to a rail fence with a "V" path through it. Go through the passage in the fence and follow the trail.

One of the first things the trail does is travels over and through some rocks. Then down a short hill and into an open area.

At the open area the trail will turn to the right (northish) and head off between two small hills covered with large rocks and giant rock formations.

As you walk, the hills will seem to close in more and you will enter a more foresty shadowy area where the trail more obviously goes uphill.

You will walk about 75 yards through this steadily uphill shadowy forested area.

As you near the more open area, you should pass several 10 foot high boulder clusters on the right that come practically to the edge of the trail and then a large boulder cluster on the left that comes to the trail.

At this point, the trail should be coming out into a sagebrushy more open area with small aspens all around.

If you see up to the left a very large straight walled rock formation looming above the already very large boulders with streaks of white bird poop here and there, then you know you are in the right place.

Go about 10 to 15 yards through this relatively clear area.

The trail will be harder and harder to find. Fading as you go through the aspens.

At the point where you come through some aspens and see a large evergreen in front of you, STOP.

You should see on the ground to the south (towards you) about 5 large rocks that someone put in a sort of circle for a campfire.

You should be about 6 steps back away from these rocks.

Look up the hill to the right (about 120 degrees, ESE)

Above and slightly beyound several large broad stairsteppish rocks that protrude only a foot or so in height out of the ground, you should see a long, very dead, grey fallen tree trunk with its branches long gone.

Climb up to the tree and follow it up hill to its base.

Above the tree base and almost touching it, will be a small rock formation jutting out of the hillside with a shrub growing out from beneath it.

The letterbox is under the rock by the base of the shrub. You have to climb or reach across the dead tree to reach it.

There should be a blackened piece of wood on top of the box with also some smaller rocks placed there too.

Congratulations! Hopefully you have found the box and signed in. Thank-you and come again!
