The Dragonfly of Musche Woods is located on the Musche conservation land in Berlin. The Musche land is adjacent to the Sudbury Valley Trustees Garfield Woods property on Lancaster Road in the northwest part of Berlin. Garfield Woods is a beautiful piece of property that is well worth exploring.
From the Garfield Woods entrance on Lancaster Road (park on the side of the road, there is no lot). Follow the trail to the train tracks. This rail line is active, please do not walk along the tracks more than is needed. Walk right about 30 steps along the tracks, on your left will be a trail into the woods. Follow that trail over the bridge and to the T. Take a right at the T. Follow this trail, after about 1/4 mile it will bear left. Go left and up the hill, you'll come to glacial outcroppings on your right. At the glacial area, two trails will come in on the left. Stay straight here. Several yards ahead, a large trail will come in on the right. Take this right.
This trail turns into a nice pine needle path. Follow this path through a couple of broken stone walls. About 1/4 mile in, you'll see a yellow diamond on a large pine that says Berlin Conservation Commission. Just after that sign the trail comes to a T. Bear left, pass the large glacial boulder on the right. After the boulder, a trail enters on your right. Stay left here. Ahead on your right will be a three trunk tree with three boulders. The dragonfly is between the second and third boulder.
This area is very quiet, stamping should not be a problem. Please hide the box well.
NOTE: Hunting is allowed on all of this property. SVT usually posts hunting dates at the Lancaster Road entrance.
