Once, many, many years ago, the Sun God Ra grew angry with the world, and all of the wrongs and evils He saw upon it. He tore out His Eye, and threw it down upon the earth to create Sekhmet, the Lion Goddess of War, to destroy the world. Thankfully, She was stopped from completing Her task. Afterward, Ra left his place in the heavens to search for His lost Sacred Eye.

He asked Nut, the Goddess of the Sky and Stars, if She had seen where His Eye had fallen. With a wave of Her hand, She pointed the way for Him. So Ra came down to the place where She directed, and found an old woman sitting under a pavillion. He asked Her if she had seen His Eye fall from the heavens? She pointed to a dirt road. Ra walked down the road, until he came to a path upon which was scattered red drops of His blood. He followed it to the right, over a small bridge, and down to another road. Farther down this road, near a white post, He saw a path leading down to the river. Ra paused at the riverbank, weary from His travels. As He walked back to the road, He saw a large double trunked tree. Sitting in the branches was Bes, the Dwarven God of Laughter. The Sun God asked the little man if He had seen the Sacred Eye? Bes laughed, and pointed off the trail 10 paces to a large gnarley old maple tree with dead branches on the side. Under some bark on the side of the tree closest to the river, Ra saw the Symbol of Life. Cursing, He turned back to Bes, but the Laughing One was gone.

Ra walked back to the road, and saw that the red trail of His blood went across the road to the left. He continued to follow the path as it went up a steep hill. At the top of the hill, the Goddess of Drunkeness, She who stopped the Destroyer, was waiting for Him. Hathor, he asked, have you seen my Sacred Eye? She smiled at Him, and lead Him to a place at the very top of the hill, near a clearing. Just before reaching the clearing, She pointed to a small group of five birch trees 20 paces off the trail, with a dead tree in the center of them. And there, beneath the leaves, He found His Sacred Eye! With the Symbol of Life, He healed His Eye, and flew back to His place in the Heavens, to shine light again upon the world.
