UPDATE: we removed the contents of box 2 on 9/16/07 for repair, and will update the clues when the box is back in order.

NOTE: We've noticed a trend recently that some people have left ink pads in a few of our boxes. While we appreciate the thought, our boxes are always "bring your own ink." This is because ink pads can leak and cause a big mess, and also because it's nice to customize the stamp with your own color schemes. Please pack accordingly and do not leave ink pads in our boxes. Thanks, and happy boxing!

Park at the Burke Lake Marina and begin your game at the Lake Burke sign with an image of Virginia. Take the dirt path to the left, heading clockwise around the lake. You will soon come to a T. Turn right and pass the “Caution Frisbee Golf Course” sign, keeping the course on your left. You will come upon a series of elevated logs on your left and a fork – the left fork continues around the lake and the right fork puts you on a spit of land that extends into the lake. Take the right fork and walk straight ahead, through the clearing, and to a narrow path that brings you down to the water. Six feet to your right, there is a rotting log with a stump leaning over it. Below the stump you will find Duck 1. When you're done stamping in, replace the box well hidden from view.

Continue clockwise around the lake. The Frisbee golf course on your left will soon disappear and rail road tracks will take its place. As you walk along, you will pass several large, well carved, birch trees on your left…..then a bench on your right…..then an amphitheater on your left…..then a trash can on your right. 28 paces (1 pace = 2 steps) pass the trash can, look for a very small path on your right. When you come to the water, turn left and continue on a small, nearly undefined path. 10 paces will bring you to a metal bird house on your left and 25 paces more brings you to a mossy clearing. With your back to the four-trunked tree, facing away from the water, spy a small double tree, and behind that a dead standing tree. To the right and below a stump, you will find Duck 2. When you're done stamping in, replace the box well hidden from view.

Continue in the same direction on the small path along the lake. After crossing several small logs, you will return to the main lake trail. Go right and continue clockwise around the lake. As you walk along, you will pass a handicapped accessible fishing platform and what could be a water fowl incubator on your right…..then an etiquette sign on your left…..then a small footbridge. Just past the footbridge, on your right, is a small clearing along the water and a well carved birch tree. Facing the water and standing between the birch and the lake, head 5 paces to the left and find a short rotten log. Below this log you will find Goose. When you're done stamping in, replace the box well hidden from view.

If you’re up for a good hike, keep heading clockwise. You’ll hit the marina again in about 5 miles. Otherwise, turn around and go approximately 0.8 mile back the way you came.
