This is an easy drive-up letterbox in the apple country of Central Missouri. It is a great drive from Kansas City or Columbia along the Missouri River especially in Summer or Fall, through gently rolling hills of corn or fruit orchards. Traveling on Highway 24 West through Waverly, turn North on the road just to the West of the Lucky Lizard cafe. Continue past the goose on the roof of the Banded Bird until the road dead ends. On your left is a historical marker. Lewis and Clark have been here. They didn't leave their stamp, but they did leave a quarter on the base of the marker. Stand in front of the marker and look toward the river. You will see four read diamonds. Stand next to one of the red diamonds, between the diamond and the yellow stripes. Moon the river and discover the letterbox under the top rock. Use a stick to get it out if your are cautious about reaching between rocks. The stamp commemorates the apple festival held in Waverly in September
