The state park is located 4 miles east of the 15, 18, 66, and 424 intersections on ST. RT. 424. If you are not from around here, you will need to take ST. RT. 424 east along the river. This is marked as a scenic route. Once you arrive in Independence, Ohio, you will avidly look for the Independence Dam State Park sign. You will then turn into the park and follow the road past the dam. You may want to stop and check out what the dam is doing at that moment. If the water is up, you may want to proceed with caution on the next part of your adventure. If the water level looks normal, you can continue to drive into the park.

Follow the instructions to get to Coat of Arms. From this point you will walk 15 paces in the same direction (deeper into the park) following the road. You can then look to your left and see a “path” that leads up to the towpath that will let you overlook the canal. Before you climb the small hill, you will want to look up and see the “Y”. You will follow the path to the “Y” and you will find Joan of Arc waiting for you.

First one to find Joan will get a nice prize!
