*This box was adopted 12/17/2010. It is currently missing, but will be replanted ASAP! Most likely in the spring due to major snow in the area!*

Forest fires have taken so many acres of trees over the last few years in the west. This box was placed to honor those who risk their lives fighting forest fires.
A large burn area in the beautiful Selway Wilderness is the site of this box west of Hamilton, MT.

Start up the Blodgett Creek Trail (#19) right past the auto bridge over Blodgett Creek.

Hike up to the stone and brass monument honoring a protector of the forest who gave his life while saving others in the Storm King Mountain fire in Colorado in 1994.

Stand facing the memorial and look directly over the center peak. Gaze up across the canyon at the rock turret across the canyon. Line up the center peak of the monument with the turret. Directly ahead there are 2 "standing people" as referred to in Native American tongues.

Walk forward approximately 16 paces to the 2nd charred conifer. The box is hidden on the north side , beneath it's roots.

Give thanks for both the forests and those brave ones who protect them.
