The official state musical instrument has been the FIDDLE since official proclamation in 1984. When looking for a spot to place this letterbox in honor of the fiddle, we decided on Hugo Lake State Park near the site of the annual bluegrass festival in a park on Bill Grant Road!!!
Clues:
Take US 70 east of Hugo to state highway 93 north into the state park. Drive to Bobcat Road and turn right at "day use only" gravel road. Drive to the circle end of road of park.
Walk down the "Kiamichi Park Hiking Trail"...pass benches around a tree on your right. The trail will meander right and downhill...Cross a swinging bridge and you'll walk through a large fallen tree with the trail "sawed out"in the middle of it. Just past this, on your right will be a HUGE Giant among giant trees. Take a moment to look up and grasp how OLD this tree must be! There are hollows all around the base of this mighty oak between the "toes" of its roots - BEWARE POISON IVY - and find the box in the NE hollow!
1st finder certificate!
Happy Questing!
