THIS BOX HAS GONE MISSING - THE ROCK IT WAS UNDER HAS ROLLED DOWN AN INCLINE.

Spring Creek Preserve – Homer Trails is located on South Bell Road, approximately .25 miles south of 159th Street (Route 7). It has lots of open and wooded areas. It is a very sunny hike, so please remember to use sunscreen.

The Will County Forest Preserve sign outside the parking lot says Messenger Marsh, but their website (www.fpdwc.org) lists it as Homer Trails. When you turn into the lot you will see the trail entrance to your right.

Head down the trail, right after you see the “Trail Rules” there is a fork – Take it to the left. It’s a winding gravel path with lots of sunny, wide-open space. When you come to the next fork, follow it to the right, which is mowed grass. To your right you will see Spring Creek beyond the field.

When the trail becomes gravel again, you will meet back up with the other trail. From this point, take 25 steps toward the trees hanging over the path – Finally a shady spot!
To your right will be a rock just before you cross the stream. Take a seat in this shady area and have a nice cool drink. While you’re there reach behind the rock and you’ll find the box. Please be sure to wedge it back behind the rock when you’re done and cover it with some foliage if you can.

For a change of scenery, head back the way you came and take the gravel trail back toward the parking lot.

Small box, no ink.
