FIGHTING FALCON

This box is to commemorate the second generation of my family attending Fairmont State. I graduated from Fairmont State College in the early eighties. Today one of my children began her “university” career! The campus has changed considerably and areas are still under construction. Enjoy your visit to the “College on the Hill” and the “Friendly City!” Also known for its pepperoni rolls!

Directions:

From I-79 take the South Fairmont Exit (132). Turn onto US 250 North towards Fairmont. Continue into Fairmont. You can follow the Fairmont State University Signs! Turn left onto Country Club Road. At the next light turn right onto Locust Avenue.

Once on Locust Avenue, turn left into the Bryant Street Entrance to the university. You have a choice to turn left up the hill or go straight towards the parking garage. Go toward the parking garage. If you have to park this is the location. Park in the lowest level possible.

The box is located at the one-room school house building located at the corner of Bryant and the road that goes up the hill towards the campus buildings. If it is not very busy, you may circle back as if leaving the university via Bryant Street. There is a small wide spot near the one-room school building. I was able to park here briefly to place the box. (If there are two of you drop one here to find the box and circle back to pick them up.)

Clues:

Approach the main entrance to the one-room school. There is a small porch with a ramp and a few steps. Walk to the steps. To the right there is a gap under the porch. The box is in this space to the far right behind some plants.

Since this is a very busy university with security guards, so please be discreet. You can always say you were interested in the building and the statue. Pleading ignorance is always a safe letterboxing trait.
