CONFIRMED MISSING 05.17.08. :(

Cool Creek Park
(East of 151st and US 31)
Westfield, IN

Poor Cap'n Jack, he has no farm,
Right now it's just bare land,
I need your help to make it work,
So will you lend a hand?

A little stamp is what I ask,
To fill up all the space,
Just drop it where I show you
In a special hiding place.

No limit to the things you carve,
I need 'most everything,
I'll keep the stamps and fill the farm
With anything you bring.

The Nature Center at Cool Creek
Is where you'll make your start,
Cross the boardwalk, then turn right,
And down that path you dart.

When you reach the overlook,
Upon the rail you'll lean,
You need to find a black park bench,
That's hidden in the green.

Sit on the bench, and to your right
You'll see an upward way,
Climb to the wider path and then
Turn left without delay.

Now count off paces, thirty-five
A tree is on your right,
Age has split it half in two,
You finally found the site.

It's seven paces off the path
If you want to keep on counting,
In that spot you find the farm,
Suspense is really mounting.

Just leave your contribution,
And you're ready to head back,
With a lighter load, a lighter heart,
And the thanks of Cap'n Jack.

-E.M.

[ALL VISITORS WELCOME WITH OR WITHOUT A STAMP ADDITION]
**A time consuming stamp-in, best done back at the bench or car.**

*****

(Some rhymes can be charming,
Though some are much worse,
Each new contribution
Will merit a verse.
You might skip the stanzas
But we hope that they're fun,
The poems won't be over
Till the farm is all done.)

*****

His fat pig is precious,
His rooster is proud,
The wee little bird
Made him laugh right out loud.

An owl, looking wise,
Sees a fine ear of corn,
All carefully kept
In a big wooden barn.

With his wife at his side,
He surveys his domain,
And wonders what more great
Surprises remain.

Cap'n Jack's grateful
For all that he gets,
Two little children
Gave him some new pets,

A sheep dog lives there now,
And watches the door,
While a kitten named Fluffy,
Curls up on the floor.

A field mouse is hiding,
And peeks from a weed,
Nearby, a big pumpkin,
Has grown from a seed.

A weather vane proudly,
Shows you the direction,
You're welcome to come
for an up-close inspection

Some peas in a pod
And some a bit scattered,
Each time the farm grows
Cap'n Jack is quite flattered.

The farm gallops along,
Now it has a fine horse,
Which Cap'n Jack needed,
He's grateful, of course!

One cute chickadee
Hopped out of its nest,
He'll be one big reward,
At the end of your quest.

Now the farm has a touch
Of outstanding drama,
With the elegant entrance
Of a Lloverly Llama.

The latest one added
To Cap'n Jack's site
Lives out in the pasture,
An udder delight.

"Every farmer needs a fence
To collect his agri-holdings.
For livestock tends to wander,
Despite repeated scoldings." - Mrs Hat

The clumsy farmer
Who joined the crew,
Is a real ball of fire,
You'll see that it's true.

The Kriegers hand-built
A very strong tractor,
Being new at the game
Was not even a factor,
When you found a soaked farm,
Quick decision was made,
You rolled up your sleeves
And rendered First Aid.
You put in a new log book
And new Baggies, too.
Jack wants to express
His great thanks to you.
Now let it be known
Throughout all the lands
You people are super,
My favorite farmhands!

All Jack wants to do,
When his hard work is done
Is take a short nap,
And stretch out in the sun.

The new Sloppy Jalopy
Is really quite spiffy,
Now all of those farm chores
Are done in a jiffy.

Charlotte the Spider
Lives high in the barn
And watches the dancin'
Of folks on the farm.

The farm has a "bee"!
It just buzzes along,
If you do what it says,
You can never go wrong.

Farmer Jack and his wife
Had a lovely vacation,
A fine trip to Banff
In our neighboring nation,
Been together one year,
And it opens the door,
To a wonderful future,
At least thirty more!

A fine pig came from Washington,
Jack cannot tell a lie,
He simply had to ask for help,
And he will tell you why.
His sister strutted over him,
Because she met Top Dog,
Now she's been taken down a peg,
Tortuga sent a hog!

"November weather's chillin'
But the waterbugs still millin'
Had to visit ol' Jack's farm
For quickly losing this year's warm.
Thought Jack's farm should have a pond
For waterbugs to form a bond
But then a pond's too small to make
You may as well just add a lake
Then waterbugs will fish and ski
At ol' Jack's farm - the place to be!" -The Waterbugs and Friends

Jack's wife was kind of troubled,
And when he asked her why,
She said, "We gotta get a goat
For if the cow goes dry."
"Where could we get a goat?" she asked,
"Now that's a major worry."
But a little birdie told him,
He would find one in a hurry.

*****

Come visit the farm,
And help it expand,
Cap'n Jack can sure use
Another farmhand.
