Baring Falls was named for one of the Baring brothers. They were London bankers who were guided on a hunting trip into the area in the late 1880's by Joe Kipp and James Willard Scultz. The falls can be found by driving on the Going-to-the-Sun Road to St. Mary Lake in Glacier National Park.

1. Find the Sunrift Gorge parking area.
2. Do not take the gorge walk on the north side of the road.
3. Go to the south side of the bridge.
4. Take the trail to your left/east down to the bottom. This will drop 250 feet.
5. Cross the bridge and walk to the clearing for a view of the falls.
6. Turn around and spy the trail that goes right next to a large tree.
7. Walk past the tree 18 steps to a junction with another trail.
8. Take the right hand trail up the hill.
9. Look for a fallen log on the right side of the trail.
10. I am hiding underneath it buried with large rocks.
11. This area is very popular, so please make sure no one sees you. Rehide me carefully and make sure my lid is on tight. It snows a lot here.
