3-11-12 I don't recommend trying to find these. landmarks have changed and I'm almost positive at least 2 are missing for sure. I will try to make it out there to check on them this week.

This series is in Honor of my uncle Tony, the one family member I admired most growing up. Roy Lichtenstein is his favorite artist. Roy is one of the finest Pop Artist of his time (in our and many others opinions). Please be gentle with my stamps as I carved his paintings which is not such an easy task. I consider this series my finest carving accomplishment yet. Please note that there is only one log book located in the final box.

Directions: Located on the Mattabassett trail in Middlefield. start from guidas dairy on RT 66 in Middlefield (the end of RT 691) The trail head starts on the left side of the guida's building near the picnic tables.

Clues: This hike should take about an hour and a half round trip unless you linger at the cliffs to enjoy the view, which I hope you will. Follow the trail out. It runs paralell with the high way and is blazed blue. At this point the trail will reamin level. When you come to the point where you can see the trail go up on an incline you should see a tree towards the left with a right pointing arrow painted on it. Head off the trail to this tree. with the tree on your right go 6 steps to a downed tree. At the root end is Roy 1.

Head back to the trail and continue uphill. This is the fun part. The climb. This trails for you Rubaduc :) Follow the trail through the small rock stairs and the large rock stairs. Right after the large rock stairs there will be a large boulder on your left. Walk to the Northwest side of this boulder and at the bottom where three rocks meet is Roy 2.

Continue on the blue blazed trail. In a couple mins it will begin to go down hill (have no fear it goes back up again) You will come to a very small look out. Continue on it gets so much better. You will come to a DANGER CLIFFS AHEAD sign. please be careful. This is a very safe area if you remain on the trail. A hiker died up here earlier in the year and I would hate to see it happen again. Pass the first good out look and climb up and over the rocks remaining on the blue. There will be a jumble of rocks on your right. Walk off the trail and aroung the right / south side of these rocks. Count 10 steps from the trail to a cave in the rocks. Here is Roy 3.

Back on the trail one more time. Follow blue blazes on rocks. You will pass a circular black and white grafitti on the rocks shortly after after passing this the trail becomes dirt again. Walk for 25 paces from this point to a small grassy patch on the right side of the trail. At the grassy spot you will walk off the trail around the side of the rocks. You will see a large crevase in the rock. On the outside of the crevase is a fire pit of sorts. take a reading of 60 and walk 30 paces to two trees several feet apart that both lean right. In between the two trees is a stump. Under the stump is the final Roy box. I hope you enjoyed the hike. retrace your steps and head back down to guida's for a much deserved ice cream.
