In Glen Oak Park there is a statue of a famous orator, freethinker, and humanist who once inspired Mark Twain to write, “Lord, what an organ is human speech when played by a master!” Find this statue, park along the street, and walk toward the pavilion. As you approach the pavilion, you should see wooden steps going up the hill.

Climb the stairs, and stop when you reach number six. Look to your right and you will see a tree with a big hole at the base, a short way off the path. Face this hole, and go the left side of the tree. At the base is a smaller hole, covered with bark and leaves. A small rock rests at the opening. Here you will find the box. Please be sure to carefully cover it again; this tree is close to the path and the box will be visible to hikers if it is not covered very well.

Please bring your own ink.
