Fountain Park Letterbox (Sorry our box has gone missing)

Enter Fountain Park via the paved driveway. Ample parking is by the last white building.

1. Walk the dirt road, lined with the great pines

2. Off to the left is a plaque of Fountain Park Founders

3. 2 professors on the plaque share a common beginning first letter, one is the first name and one is the last name. Figure out the common letter, which will help you determine the first letter of the color of the path you will follow.

4. Go back to the dirt road and look for the correct color path on the signpost.

5. Follow the correct color path until you see a slab of cement hidden by some trees and home for some birds. Take a left and follow the crimson trail.

6. Continue on until a clearing and you will have to choose. Either go up the dirt embankment or up the trail. Do not fear…you will get to where you need to go.

7. Continue past nature’s balance beam.

8. Left onto orange trail.

9. If you pass 2 sections of fallen down trees on the left, you are on the correct path.

10. You will start down the hill of moss covered root steps… you are getting closer to the prize.

11. Bear right on the white trail and you will have come full circle, continue on.

12. As you come into view of the beautiful aged oak tree, your journey is nearing its end. Go right on the orange path. You will see a clearing and a fork. Stay left of the Black Jack Oak and his marked friends.

13. Some trees marked with orange color will lead to another fork in the road. Bear right and take the long road home.

14. Past the clearing in the sky, you will find on the left a twisted tree in the shape of a “U” that could be an illustration in a Dr. Suess book. Behind this tree is your treasure!!!

15. Continue on until the end of this path… If you hit the fence and the red house and have not found the treasure, retrace your steps 70 paces back from the trail marker (1 pace= 2 feet).

16. Be sure to replace the letterbox carefully so others can enjoy finding it.

17. To get yourself home, continue toward the fence and red house and head out
of the woods to where the sun sets.
