“Last of the Mohicans”--carved by Blackvelvetrav in Idaho. This talented carver has friends place her boxes in states where boxing is pretty popular. Columbus is fortunate to have three of her boxes in place!
(Stamp is LARGE!!)
This box is near the Park of Roses in Columbus, Ohio. The park is near 3500 N. High Street, behind Whetstone Library and Whetstone Rec Center. Follow the road (Hollenback) back toward the Park of Roses, cross the bridge and park. East of the bridge on the north side of the creek is a bright sign: Adena Brook Ravine. Follow the path beside the sign east into the woods. Walk on the main trail with the creek on your right until you see a large (6-8 ft.) concrete slab jutting out into the creek.
In 33 paces is a large (2-3 ft.) rock between two large birch trees on the left side of the path. From there walk 32 paces. You should be standing near a large birch on the left that leans north. South of the tree, across the creek is a large cement cylinder.
In 33 more paces you’ll see another large birch on the right with another cement cylinder behind it. Just beyond this the path splits. Bear left and count 16 paces from the “Y” to a 15 foot barkless tree stump.
From that stump,at 345° walk 6 paces to a large fallen tree. At the root end, in a large hole covered by two bare logs is the box. (It is very large!) (If you walk to the next “Y” in the path you have gone too far.)
We think this is a really special stamp! Please, please, be careful of the pedestrian traffic and rehide VERY carefully!! Hope you like it as much as we do.
