Went to check on this box today -4/14/12 and it is indeed missing. Have plans to replant, but in a different location sometime this summer. Will change status when I do.

We replaced the stamp for this box on 10/3/09 in the same place. It is now in a pouch, not a box.

This is a VERY busy place, so please be as sneaky as you can. I tried to get my daughter to plant the box somewhere a little less busy, but this is where she wanted it so this is where it is. LOL

Once again my anti boxing daughter has planted a Mother’s Day letterbox for me. I hope you all enjoy finding it and that you make sure that it stays in its hiding place for years to come by being careful to not draw attention to what you are doing and by hiding it better than you found it.

Below is the note I found in my Mother’s Day card:

Mom,
Once again another year has passed and Mother’s Day has arrived. I’d like to take you back to my favorite spot once again. If you can’t remember where it is, I’ll give you a hint. It is where all is calm and nothing is heard except the crashing of the waves on to the sand and where butterflies can fly free without a care in the world. Do you give up? My favorite spot to go is Hammonasset State Park.

Go to Meig’s Point parking lot. Take the trail from the parking lot that heads toward the water. Facing the water the sign board will be on your left. Take the stairs to the right. At the top of the stairs facing the observation deck take the small trail on your right. In back of a boulder and under a rock and debris you will find my butterfly.

After stamping in, take a moment and have a seat on the observation deck and let your thoughts go with the sound of the waves and think of this, the true meaning of the butterfly. The butterfly is symbolic of the resurrection and eternal life, the butterfly emerging from its cocoon represents the resurrection of Christ from the tomb. Just as the butterfly comes forth with a new body, those who trust in Christ come forth with a new life. The butterfly also represents flight, freedom and creative thinking. A symbol of spring, the butterfly truly reflects the beauty of nature.

Now wouldn’t you like to be free of all worries just like the butterfly?
