The Hammond Pond Fairy Godmother Letterbox
Location: Hammond Pond Reservation, Chestnut Hill, MA
Dedicated: to our favorite Fairy Godmother on her 55th Birthday
Plant Date: 6/3/09

Directions:
MBTA: Green Line (D) to Chestnut Hills Station.
By Car: Take Route 9 east or west to the Hammond Pond Parkway Exit. Just north of the Parkway is the reservation parking lot on the left as one enters the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center.

How to find the "Fairy Godmother Letterbox":
Starting at the Trail Head, between the Park Bulletin Board and the large green swing gate, go 28 paces.
You'll see a Y in the trail. Follow the smaller trail up and to the left.
After 20 paces there will be a big tree in front of you and another Y intersection.
Take the left trail, keeping the rock formations on your right and the parking lot below on your left.
Continue up the hill. You will see a tree (double V shape trunk) with it's roots draping over a rock out cropping and down over the trail. Be careful not to trip, these roots are the alarm system of the Fairy Kingdom. Go up the hill and past this tree and you will see a passageway between two Giant rock formations. This is the secret entrance to the magical realm of the Fairies!

Go through this passageway. Once you are surrounded on 3 sides by the rock formations with their magical white fairy dust spots, stand on the big flat rock in the middle.

Through the large opening you can now see the Fairy Forest.

You will see a large boulder off in the distance toward the left. Walk to that rock. Once that rock is on your right, continue to walk around the rock and walk up the hill toward the rock wall for 26 paces.

Look down. You will see two rocks together, the rock on the right is split right down the middle. Inside this split in the rock is where you will find the Fairy Godmother Letterbox! Make a wish.

Don't forget to be stealthy. Fairies scare easily and can be quite shy.
