After all the rain we’ve been having, it was great to get out on a beautiful day like today. The sun was shining, the sky was blue with puffy white clouds, the temperature was just right and a slight breeze made it even more comfortable. So I headed to the Nepaug Reservoir on Rt. 202 in New Hartford. The parking area is on the left not far over the New Hartford line and just before the reservoir view on the left. Park here and head down the road.
Keep walking and cross over the dam. Stop and enjoy the view in both directions. Just on the other side you will see a few steps and a trail up the hill. Take it. Enter the woods and go to the right but not back down to the road. Go up the hill. There will be a tree leaning on the left as the trail starts down again. You will see houses on the left. Where the trail flattens out and intersects with ones to the right and left, go right. Just before the road you will see a bunch of large rocks to your left. Behind them are two trees down. Look in the base of the first one. You are visible from the road here so watch for observers. Cover well when you’re done and don’t let the ‘box’ fall out the bottom.
Turn right on the road to get back to your car or go back the way you came. Hope you have as beautiful a day as I did.
