At the end of High Street is Thorne Head Preserve. Take the Overlook Trail to the giant painted mushroom rock. (Don't forget to enjoy the overlook.) Turn around at the mushroom rock, and follow the blue blazed trail to the right. Go a little ways, but not very far, and look to your right for the little offshoot trail to Murderer's Cave. This is where a murderer hid after killing a Bath constable in 1883. The slope is steep to the entrance to the cave, but you don't have to go too far. You can go in the cave if you like, but to find our letterbox turn around at the mouth of the cave, and look at the righthand face where the boulder comes down leading into the cave. There you will see two stumps. Push them out of the way. Kneel down and you've found our letterbox, tucked in the crevice. And smile, 'cause you haven't been murdered.
