You can practically drive right up to this letterbox on the beautiful North Shore of Oahu. Be sure to make time to explore the area a little futher following your find. See suggested walking tour following the clues below.

DIRECTIONS: From Waikiki, take H1 West to H2 North. Continue to Kamehameha Highway (99). Follow the signs for Haleiwa. Drive through the town, and turn left at the intersection just before Haleiwa Joes Restaurant (this will place you on Haleiwa Beach Rd.). Take another quick turn (right) into the Halewia boat Harbor and at the "T" (you'll be facing the harbor) turn left. Look for parking stalls facing the harbor, on your left, just before the large 'weigh-in station'(where successful fishermen weigh their catches). Park in the first stall (you will see a sign stating "Vehicle Parking Only--No Trailers").

CLUES:
From your parking area, look to your right for a row of large Milo trees growing along the water's edge. Go to the largest tree, closest to your parking spot. Be discreet, this can be a busy area! Look around before searching any further. At the base of the tree, on the side closest to the water, you'll find a pile of rocks stacked among the roots. Beneath the rocks and leafy debris, you will find the "Waialua Honu Letterbox." Please be sure to re-hide this box well. Cover box with leafy debirs, then stack rocks on-top and around, and follow with a final layer of leafy debris over the rocks.

Suggested Walking Tour:
Move your car to another stall within the main harbor parking area. Take some time to walk towards the white bridge, a.k.a. "Rainbow Bridge," and gaze into the river water. You may be lucky enough to spot a real "Waialua Honu" swimming upstream, apparently a favorite locale for these endangered Hawaiian sea turtles. You may also choose to wander into near-by Haleiwa Joe's for cocktails and 'pupus' (appetizers), or venture down through the main town of Halewia for Matsumoto's famous shave ice.
