Tree Hounds!

Park in the small lot at the end of Carmel Rd. in Andover, Ma. Begin your hike, entering the woods through the green gate. Continue on the main trail, enjoying the lovely trees above! After a short while you will see a medium sized boulder on your right and a trail coming in from the left at a clearing. Stay straight on the main trail here, continuing uphill. Soon you will come to a 4-way intersection-- take the trail to your left and continue up to a circular clearing with the remnants of a fire pit in the middle. Feel free to take a moment to enjoy the view of the tiny, tree-lined paths surrounding you. This is apparently a popular campsite! You will want to take the main trail on the left to continue your journey. You'll see a white birch ahead as you approach the trail. Continue down the hill to that birch and then take 6 steps to arrive at a small trail on your right. Enter the trail between two small trees and, from the trees, continue 18 steps down the trail. Here, look to the right and find the large rock that is cushioned by a half circle of trees. Our tree hounds have cozied up for a nap at the base of the NW side of the rock. Now return to the main trail and take a right to continue back to that first clearing. There, a right will take you back to the main entrance. Happy trails!
