CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE AUGUST 2012

I have to say that these are some of my favorite stamps I have ever carved. Originally, these were created to be an event box for the 2010 Where the wild things are event. Now that the event has come and gone, I feel they need a home other than my closet. The boxes do contain ink, but I would bring along green and black just in case.

You want to start in the main parking lot for Lake Mohegan. If you face the beach you will see an entrance to the walking trails on the right side of the parking lot, marked by a kiosk.

Enter the walking trail area and move to the right hand trail, which goes up hill.

After a few feet you will see an old boarded garage building, pass this building and continue to follow the trail.

After a short time you will enter the top side of a clearing, with multiple points of entrance/exit.

Bear up to the right and you'll see how the trail curves up and to the right. However, you don't want to follow this that far, just notice how there is an unmarked trail outcropping on your left, you can look for a main hole cover if your wondering if your in the right spot.

Looking here to the left and up a slight hill you should see a line rock, which stands roughly 2' high. Walk up to this rock.

With this rock at your feet, look left and see a 8 sister skinny tree. Roughly, 40' off from your side.

Tucked inside these trunks under some branches and bark, you will find the forest. (recommending green ink here)

Head back to the clearing and exit this area on the right PLANKED trail. Follow this trail till the planks end, you should yellow blazes beginning to appear.

Follow the yellow blazed trail, when the trail splits off follow it up to the right towards a large rock face.

Follow the trail as it curves up and to the top of the rock face, just as you hit the very beginning of the top bit, look left to see an unmarked trail leading off to the left.

It is a narrow trail, but it follows the top of the rock face towards the edge. Follow this as it hugs the edge until you come to the fire hydrant. * yes a fire hydrant-okay, side off subject moment here, I love random stuff and a fire hydrant on top of a large rock face in the middle of the woods is as random as it gets. Seriously, a fire hydrant? But back to letter boxing...

Once you come to the fire hydrant, it will be on your right. You can see a three sister with fourth baby sister tree just ahead.

Walk to this tree and stand between it and a single thin tree on your left. From here looking straight ahead you'll spot a cranky twisted five sister tree.

This tree will be growing out of a rocky outcropping. Walk here to the outcropping and just to the left of the tree in a crack you'll find the panda.

This stamp is behind a large collection of  stones. Please return all of these to the hiding space. This an extremely busy place where those of the teenage persuasion like to hang out, so please hide carefully.

I suggest taking the long way back by looping the lake. Have a great time here at the lake!
