Originally placed by Peter and adopted in May 2008 by HLRG_Whisper_Foot.

This is our first Letterbox! It was place by myself and Emma age 4.

Kinder Farm Park is in Severna Park Maryland. It is on Jumper's Hole Road about 1 mile north of the Severna Park Middle School. Jumpers' hole can be reached from Route 2, north of the park, or from Benfield road, which is south of the park. See site KinderFarmPark.org

The park has several ball fields, playgrounds, natural areas, horse trails, birdwatching etc. It is a wonderful mix of developed and undeveloped areas and is truly a Jewel for the county. There is a 2.4 mile paved loop trail, marked every 10th of a mile that goes completely around the park and is accessible from several parking lots. I suggest parking in the upper parking lot of the ball field area which is free, or you can just enter the park proper and pay the $5.00 entrance fee. No matter where you park the directions to our letter box are as follows:

Get on the trail and find the 1.5 mile marker. Next to the marker is a bench. This is a great place to stop and admire the scenery. Just to the right of the bench as you look at it is a dirt road that leads up a small incline. There is also a road that leads into the center of the park, don't take that one at this point.

Follow the road (away from the center of the park) to a fork in the road. There is a dirt road to the left, a grass-covered road to the center and the road that you are on makes a bend to the right. Continue on the road to the right, leaving the roads less traveled to another day, knowing that how things go... (well, you have read Frost, seems he did a better job at describing the fork in the road).

Follow the road till it begins to enter the woods again. On the right you will see evidence of the old farms that occupied this land at one time: old fence posts, stone walls, etc... Look to your right as you begin to enter the woods for the start of what our family calls the bamboo forest. As you enter the woods, you will see a small pond to your right, called Bunks' pond. (There is a trail that goes around the pond and if you look carefully you can spot many a frog. Also, take the opportunity to make your way into the bamboo forest for a great adventure hike. Our kids love walking around the bamboo, especially on a windy day when the bamboo claps together.)

On the south side of the pond, near the road you have taken to this point is a very large tree that forks into three branches about 20-25 feet up. This tree is right at the edge of the bamboo. Go around the back side of the tree and you will see that the trunk is hollow. Look inside to the right and notice several pieces of logs standing upright. Our box is behind the logs.

We hope you enjoy this hike and the park. Our family has and continues to enjoy the park for both sporting events and the tranquility of the walk.
