The Arizona National Scenic Trail (AZT) spans 800 miles from the USA border at Mexico to the Utah state line. This box is in Passage 13-Oracle. The trail is detailed into 43 Passages. Due to the diversity of the terrain there is a wide variety of plants and animals along the way, you might hear this as a warning sign - Beware! You never know what you'll run across whether you are doing it as a through-hike or in bits and pieces in short backpacks or day hikes.

Getting there:
Once approaching Oracle, Highway 77, turn right on E. American Way, at the east end of town bear right on Mt. Lemmon Highway. Continue past Oracle State Park, turn right on American Flag Ranch Rd, there is a Arizona Trailhead sign pointing this way. Park at the trailhead.
To the box;
Find the sign in the picture - picture on AQ #278007
From there walk North to The Arizona Trail sign, turn right, heading east under the sign.
Continue along the trail through a fence line, a tall square fence post is on the right edge of the trail.
Look for a large, multi-trunk tree (about 130 steps from the fence post) cradled between two boulders, one low and one high.
On the back side of the high boulder, west side, look for the box under a rock and scattered plant debris.

Please tuck the box back into its hidey-hole and cover completely with the rock and plant debris. Please double bag and rehide the box. If attention is needed please e-mail me at pfmount@cox.net.

Warning:
While in Arizona beware of things that bite, stick and/or sting.

Hike length: 0.5 miles
